[revenues/g.lite from conference call]

Hi Mark,

Did you get to listen to the conference call? if you did, forgive my repeating info... compared to the last two this was particularly straightforward/uneventful...

Tamir got on and ran thru overview/strategy of last couple of years, highlights of the last qtr, took a few of questions (all that were asked) and signed off...

re revenues: $1 million adsl/sdsl (fastinternet), $100 to 150 k vdsl, ... the rest hdsl.. contract engineering ("only with subsidiary on cable modem") meaningless for revenues... sounds like the big growth in hdsl1 in europe is over.. " europe.. is getting to stage similar to american market... (was) growth of 200% at end of 96 into 97 and (now) stabilize at lower growth rate..

my take fwiw: seems that longer term story still intact, but shorter term (existing hdsl1 business) might be a little weak.... no mention of asia (or questions either) which may be dragging things down a little...

sounds like there is more news to come on the g.lite front.. Tamir basically punted (with a smile)... pointing to upcoming news... which i suppose might simply be infill detail, or might include something new like "special" orctf g.lite features, or might even include a partner (distributer)... maybe all (or none) of the above... <g>

g.lite highlights (when asked): more or less:

"g.lite and standardizing? ... don't want to comment at this stage... need to wait a few more hours or days to see what will be the public announcement.. you can go to comnet where orckit is demonstrating in fujitsu booth..a working g.lite solution... think g.lite is a good direction... it will take (away) one of the major obstacles for development of adsl market.. interoperability... so far altho the (existing adsl) standard was fully proved(?)..they didn't go into low level detail to make sure equipment of different vendors will work together ... if g.lite is going to develop in the direction it is going to develop...it will take this obstacle out.. ... equipment of different vendors will operate together.. and the market can develop much faster.."

and when asked about the intellectual property side of g.lite (patents):

"... standard discussions are not concluded... still a long way to conclude.. direction is a subset of existing standards... one of key directions is to try to avoid intellectual property.... target is to accelerate market.. try to avoid intellectual property of third parties as it could delay market.. it is not clear yet what will be the bottom line..."

will post more (eventually) on other stuff... discussion of the changing landscape of hdsl (hdsl2) was interesting/informative ... might be spelled s-o-n-e-t ... i-n-t-e-g-r-a-t-i-o-n (for all companies)

best wishes
s
