"The idea of no longer mining for coal is a truly ignorant and short sighted notion, it reveals such an incredibly low level of ignorance and stupidity that it is actually and truly beyond mind blowing... Clue number one: Without coal we could no longer make steel... Steel is made by combining iron ore with coal heated at a very high temperature (2500 degrees F), and then hammered to removed the impurities... When removed from the oven called the bloomery, we have impure steel called the bloom... 30 pounds of bloom makes 13 pounds of steel, that excess is hammered off, the sparks that fly off are the impurities being removed... I won't go further into the tall weeds on how to produce steel right here, but simply to say that without coal it would be absolutely and completely impossible to produce steel... This means, without coal we can no longer make cars, we can no longer build ships, we can no longer building buildings, and so on... Here's a suggestion, why not just go back to the early 1800's and abandon all technological and industrial advances made since the industrial revolution in the 1870's... Even on the face of it, it's such an asinine idea... but no one ever said those advocates had any education, brains, or common sense... GZ " .................
