My grandfather worked for the County, and had 400+ sick days saved up, iirc.
He died and never used them. I guess grandma got paid.

Amazon gave 40hrs of paid sick time every yr, for warehouse laborers.

Most people I know have more sick leave coming than they take.

So much that some smaller companies have to insist they take it so they won't get hit with a huge bill if the employee leaves.
Some companies just make the sick days non-recoverable - so when you leave, you can get paid for unused vacation, but sick time is "lost".
