You would be hard pressed to conjure up a better test of how this philosophy works, than under the current CV-19 test. As I've pointed out before, our system with its lack of social safety nets (both employment and healthcare) coupled with the fact that younger working age people aren't much affected, while the risk to the elderly is considerable, along with our propensity to not like the government to restrict our freedoms, will provide a nice contrast to other systems.
