It should be clear the USA has zero chance of containment given the current response. How bad it gets prior to a much more vigorous response remains to be seen.

Correction: The totals in my post only included the extracted rows of the data set. The correct total — the number of tests performed by USA, as of 2020-03-10 — is 11079, which is a mere 33 tests/million. That is up from 26 tests/million the day before.

In comparison, as of 2020-03-09, France has made 182 tests/million, UK has made 387 tests/million, Italy has made 1005 tests/million, South Korea has made 4099 tests/million — and best of them all, outside of China — Bahrain has made 4910 tests/million.
