Try running the same $SPX chart using the SMA(200) weekly. Then compare to 1987 'crash'

The way I see it this is MAJOR PANIC SELLING which, judging by the recent Volumes, is most likely being largely influenced by the "expert(?)" Fund Managers with their WIDE ranges of diversified stocks. I thought that they "Diversified" to REDUCE RISK !!
They are the ones with the Large Volumes to offload and when they get "Bearish" the general market suffers.

Really good, quality companies remind me of a large, sealed empty vessel. The more you try and push it DOWN under the water, the more it wants to pop UP again.

And there's NO DOUBT that those companies will rise in price again and will, most likely, be the FIRST ONES TO DO SO ...... IMO, it has quite a lot to do with having patience ......

What has further influenced the current Market fall off, apart from Covid-19, is the "Oil conflict" between Russia and that "loose cannon" Prince of Saudi Arabia with regard to "market share". I fail to understand why the Saudi king put that son, Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) in charge of affairs in that country. A far better choice would have been the king's nephew, Mohammed Bin Nayef, that this prince has put under "house arrest" for "treason(?) !!
