Monday January 26, 11:48 am Eastern Time RESEARCH ALERT - Texas Instruments raised

NEW YORK, Jan 26 (Reuters) - UBS Securities said on Monday it raised its rating on shares of Texas Instruments Inc to buy from hold with a 12-month $65 per share target price.
-- Analyst Charles Boucher said upgrade based on belief company's business is likely to bottom out in the March quarter and its DSP (digital signal processors) and analog/mixed signal bookings should recover in the first quarter as customers start to order parts for next generation product roll-outs.

-- ''We believe key end markets will generage growth in 1998, albeit at a slower rate than 1997,'' Boucher said.

-- Dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chip prices appear stable after a small dip last week, he said.

-- ''We think the stock's valuation discounts all known negative news (including concerns about lower DRAM prices and inventory troubles in some DSP markets) and we believe the probability of improved bookings outweighs the probability of further degradation in fundamentals,'' he said.
