CyberGuard Announces Worldwide Availability Of
Industry's Most Secure Firewall Product Line For
Microsoft Windows NT

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 26, 1998-- CyberGuard
Corporation (NASDAQ: CYBG - news), a leading provider of network security and electronic
commerce solutions, today announced world-wide availability of its Windows NT firewall
product line designed to provide the most secure environment available for Microsoft(r)
Windows NT(r) .

While existing Windows NT firewalls are simply applications that reside on top of the Windows
NT operating system, CyberGuard's Windows NT solution includes SecureGuard(tm) which
functions as a shield around the Windows NT operating system - typically the most vulnerable
point of attack. This focus on operating system security is based on CyberGuard's UNIX(r)
firewall - the only commercially available firewall with a B level operating system and
networking product evaluated by the National Security Agency.

''Today, about 60 percent of firewalls shipped are built on Windows NT, despite the 'bad
press' that NT security has received in the last few months,'' noted a senior Gartner Group
information security analyst in a July 1997 research note. Gartner also noted, ''We do not
recommend NT - or any system that is less than B2-compliant - for use as the host operating
system on the Internet for firewalls or electronic commerce in security-intense environments.''

''The new CyberGuard(tm) Firewall for Windows NT and SecureGuard are the first products
in our Windows NT product suite. These products are perfect for organizations that need to
separate internal functions like accounting from human resources, and for securing corporate
print servers and e-mail,'' noted Robert L. Carberry, chairman and chief executive officer of
CyberGuard Corporation. ''Due to the overwhelming demand for a more secure Windows NT
firewall, we expect these new product offerings to make revenue contributions to our business
beginning this quarter.''

The CyberGuard Firewall for Windows NT delivers high-speed packet filtering to implement
security policies, along with SecureGuard and SmartProxies(tm) that enhance security. Intranet
SmartProxies - including Lotus Notes, SMB Shared-Resource(tm) and SQL*Net - also allow
users to effectively tailor the firewall to their specific security needs for the intranet environment.
This modularity saves the end users time and money as it allows them to purchase features as
needed.

''Our firewall for Windows NT was designed to be the most secure, flexible and cost-effective
Windows NT solution on the market,'' stated Rick Siebenaler, vice president of development at
CyberGuard Corporation. ''SecureGuard is a must for securing the Windows NT
environment.''

SecureGuard has been referenced as ''a good companion product to Windows NT,'' by Lloyd
Spencer, a group product manager at Microsoft, in the October 13, 1997 issue of PCWeek
Magazine.

CyberGuard Firewall for Windows NT pricing ranges from $1,000 - 8,500 (US List),

integrators, and security solution providers specializing in network security and electronic
commerce solutions. The Windows NT product line will also be available through Tech Data
