A stock needs to be marginable to be shorted. If FIBR takes a little dip below 5 for a short itme it doesn't automatically lose it's margin status.

The $5 level is more a function of your broker and their rules regarding shorting. My brokers will probably let me short slightly under 5, but I have to call them up and negotiate with the margin department. (In other words I have to have a certain amount of equity in my account and they have to decide if they want to assume the risk of my short).

That's a hassle for me, I would rather just wait until it crosses 5.
