Joey, re: "Retail PC revenue rose 5.8 percent in December
compared with December 1996 on the strength of a
30 percent gain in unit sales"

If this expansion, as it appears, is first time buyers motivated by sub 1K PC's, the companies that sell consumer peripherals and software should benefit with increased sales without the lower ASP's that the component and box makers are absorbing. HWP's printer business, with all those first time buyers that also need a printer, should benefit.

Just some speculation.

Excellent Article Joey, Fowler and other jerks take notice

"Retail PC revenue rose 5.8 percent in December compared with December 1996 on the strength of a 30 percent gain in unit sales, according to audited retail sales data from PC Data, based in Reston, Va. IT WAS THE FIRST POSITIVE MONTH TO MONTH REVENUE COMPARISON SINCE SEPTEMBER."

For all those (who unlike Joey, never post real information) and who have been bothering me about my flat revenues remark READ READ READ.
