John, for once I agree with you. Microsoft has won this round, big time. The DOJ and the judge rolled over pretty amateurishly.

It appears that MSFT can still pre-install IE, although in theory Compaq could put the Netscape icon on the desktop. But that is unlikely. So heads Netscape breaks even, tails they lose, as far as pre-installation issues go. The icon helps very little.

And this does nothing about the upcoming 'IE *is* the GUI' release of Windows 98, which is the item that is really going to hurt all the competition.

Really, the only smart move against Microsoft this month was made by Netscape.
