Dan you're confused. Microsoft didn't "lift the middle finger".

What they did, out of respect for the Judge and the rule of law, was to comply with the court's ruling, as all good corporate citizens should.

No. You can't ask for clarification of a decision you are appealling and they appealled it almost instantly. And while the head scratching transforms itself to stock purchases we are quite pleased in the Looooong MSFT camp.
