Re: N95's 3 hour viral aerosol stability is much much much hub bub. Looked at setup for testing viral viability. Was first pass, very optimal etc. Is good lab study, but not sure about applicability.

Virus particles while air stable are heavy and do not diffuse in air, at rates of air. Measles virus, is R0 12-18. So far observed R0 for Covid is around 3. Aerosol is not likely the dominant pathway.

Chinese scientists reporting fecal-oral possible,,, e.g. virus is very stable in environment. Very likely to pick up from surfaces.

For healthcare professionals and people living with someone who has the virus airborne is a real concern.

If walking outside, is more fashion statement to say you care. If shopping and contacting people, any mask will cut down on spray and persistent droplets, and will have similar effect to distancing.

Am of the feeling that kiddos should be kept at home, as most are asymptomatic during contagious phase. Makes no sense to have them in schools and daycares, as is just a recipe for prolonging reservoir of virus.

Face masks:Auto parts stores, Paint stores, construction jobbers like grainger, may have. Even if you took a couple layers of spandex and made one you're good. There is a lot of talk about airborne. I'm not much of a conspiracy person, but I'm spinning yarn right now. I build a machine that improves chemical mixing proceses, so I understand enough CFD to be dangerous. I looked at those studies from CDC It's more stable as an aerosol than influenza,,, yes,, airborne, yes stable, but the R0 of 3 this isn't near as much as measles (8-10). Makes me think the real dominant pathway for spread is droplets, and not aerosols, and if aerosols, in close contact. CDC threw shade at fecal oral, but it's stable in fecal matter, that means its probably 10X more stable than influenza on surfaces like hands etc.. Wash hands, avoid close contact, touching surfaces. For those playing the home game and how this happened: HEPA filters on planes will prevent the spread, but the concentrations near someone who is pouring it into your breathing zone are problematic. E.g. if you sit next to them for an 8 hour flight and don't touch them. For healthcare providers, they need a mask. They are a magnet for sick people. They need the PPE(personal protective equipment). Nobody will die if you aren't in their face, HCP's not the case.

Stay safe.

The “safer at home” emergency order just announced by Los Angeles County and the cities within its borders at a Thursday evening news conference requires all indoor malls, shopping centers, playgrounds and nonessential retail businesses to close effective midnight tonight through at least April 19.

Allowed to operate — as long as they observe proper social-distancing guidelines and do not include more than 10 people in one place — are a list of essential services including city and county government services, grocery stores, hardware stores and, wait for it, cannabis dispensaries.

Unlike the confusion surrounding cannabis businesses in the Bay Area “shelter in place” order that was announced Monday (which had dispensaries closing only to open the next day after a handful of cities — including San Francisco and San Jose — clarified that they could remain open), the city of Los Angeles’ coronavirus FAQ lists as essential healthcare services “cannabis dispensaries, or any related and/or ancillary healthcare services.”

Amid coronavirus siege, California cannabis sales soar

The actual order issued by the county of Los Angeles reads slightly differently, noting that the order does not apply to healthcare organizations including “cannabis dispensaries with a medicinal cannabis license,” though at the news conference announcing the order, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said (though not in reference to this particular issue) that the cities and the county had worked hard to ensure that the details of the order were not in conflict.
