I have always wanted to see a good system that stopped working.

Well how about people that were playing breakouts, which worked pretty well during a strong trending market but started failing frequently in the choppy 1987 market. I saw many posts on the webb by people complaining about failed breakouts and their systems not working last year. You could say, just trade trending markets, but you don't know ahead of time what it's going to be. Is 1998 going to be trending or ranging?

"I have always wanted to see a good system that stopped working."

All of Chapter 1 in Kaufman's 'Smarter Trading' is devoted to that exact topic.
