Oracle Japan, Justsystem Sell Database Products
January 26, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Oracle Corp. Japan and Justsystem Corp., a leading Japanese
supplier of word-processing software, said they have agreed to jointly market their database
products.

The two companies will sell integrated use of both Oracle8, Oracle's relational database
management system (RDBMS), and Goro8 for Windows 95/NT4.0, a database software package
that Justsystem will start selling Jan. 30.

They will recommend that customers of Oracle RDBMS or Ichitaro programs use Goro8 as a
front-end for Oracle8, because Goro8 is capable of connecting to Oracle8 in a native way.

They plan to (1) offer free copies of driver software for Oracle connection and a trial version of
Personal Oracle8 to enterprise users of Goro8 or Ichitaro Office8 Pro that includes Goro8, (2) offer
a free set of Goro8 and driver software free to each company that uses Oracle8 or 7, and (3) sell a
set of trial versions of Personal Oracle8, Goro8 and the driver software at a special price of 10,000
yen (US$78.70) to members of the Oracle Fan Club, an Oracle users group.

According to Oracle Japan, Excel or Access of Microsoft Co., Ltd. are widely used for front-end
products of Oracle8, but they have some functional limitations due to RDBMS connection via
ODBC (Open Database Connectivity).

"In addition to ODBC support, an ideal front-end software should be capable of fully utilizing
Oracle's functionalities," said Masaaki Shintaku, managing director of Oracle Japan. Thus, Oracle
has decided to work together with Justsystem.

Additionally, Softbank Corp. will support the two companies by supplying evaluation copies of
Goro8 and Oracle8 to dealers and by establishing their dealer technical support facilities.
