At this point, OPEC countries may regret that they didn’t diversify their economies whilst the oil money was still rolling in.


In the degree they did... if doing so by investing oil profits in the U.S. markets, the carnage in the markets now might be enabled, at least, by the sudden need for the repatriation of $ to pay the bills... when the oil brings in too little to pay them.



Saudis need $85 oil to pay all the bills ? Also still have the lowest production costs around... but what does that matter when you can't give the stuff away ?
