So true! My wife is Japanese, born and raised in Japan, finished college there with a Bachelor in English and worked as a junior college teacher there for a couple of years.
Then she joined PanAm and moved to Honolulu for 7 years.
We also lived half time in San Diego for 12 years and can only agree on your observations.

Mindmeld,
But with the Millennials and Gen Z, that is changing. They no longer prize privacy and individuality and they love collectivism and Socialism.
They really have no idea. They think collectivism and socialism can happen while still valuing privacy and individual rights.

"No, we don't want to be like China! We instead want to be like Denmark and Sweden!"

They have no sense of societal responsibility whatsoever. To them, it's just another opportunity to virtue-signal on social media.

They will never measure up to the kind of collectivism and the sacrifices that are expected out of Asian cultures. I know this because there is a HUGE difference between youngsters living in Asia vs. "woke" Asian-Americans.
