It is likely that a week ago the US already had somewhere between 10k - 40k infections but just didn't know about them because there was no testing. I am keeping an eye for a sudden bulge due to active testing.

It is also likely that there will be multiple hotzones in the US. NYC was always the obvious one, and will get a lot worse. But b/c the American public is so mobile, there is bound to be other cities. The one "lucky "thing is that the government started acting before the March break. Can you imagine how much worse it would be after everyone had come back from their vacations?
