wanted to share this from an associated press article dated sunday 1/25/98. when IBM warned last week that the economic meltdown in asia will continue to hurt profits in the new year, it shouldn't have been much of a surprise to wall street, given all of the street's rumination about asia since late october. one market analyst likened the reaction to IBM's warning to the scene in the film "casablanca", where louis, the french police commandant, breaks away from the roulette table to close down the cafe and declare he's "shocked" to learn there's been gambling on the premises.
