steve,

You're right on most points, of course. I don't know whether Clinton did it or not and I'm not out to condemn him if he did. I just found the idea that has been broadcast in the media -- adultery no big deal (with respect to the Presidency), but lying is horrible. Just seems a little incongruous to me.

That was my only point.

~ Without Him I could do nothing ... ~ (right, that is)

Take care
Barry

To hpeace:

Tapes don't prove anything. True. In fact, I am somewhat surprised that Lewinsky's lawyer is simply not taking the position that Lewinsky lied while talking to her so-called friend - that Lewinsky was puffing and bragging about an affair she never had merely in a vain attempt to look and feel important. Lying to her friend is not a crime since she was not under oath and subject to the penalties of perjury. The contents of the tapes could be false as far as any purported relationship with Clinton is concerned in which case Ken Starr has very little he can hang his hat on. Only one thing in my mind prevents this scenario from going forward - the contents of the tape contain some explicit physical description of Clinton that could only be known through first hand experience (or was that left hand experience - no maybe both hands experience). Anyway - you know what I mean.
