I think the difference in fatality rates between South Korea (less than 1%) and Italy (more than 5%?) is the difference between a healthcare system that has adequate resources (S. Korea) and one that is overwhelmed (Italy) by more patients than ICU beds and not enough protective gear.

As mentioned, Italy is reported to have an otherwise very advanced healthcare system, so, it is important to avoid the "overwhelmed" state.
