Based on Covid 19 disease characteristics (some of which are being suppressed by governments) it probably won't have an impact on who gets the disease - we will all be exposed - but will impact the number of deaths because of access to equipment and drugs which can lessen the effects such as death and permanent disability.

This is a highly contagious virus, not just because it is highly mobile and airborne in respiratory mists, and can live on surfaces for several days, but many people can be infectious and show no symptoms, so can be vectors spreading the disease for weeks.

The above coupled with 15% of the infected people will have serious symptoms and about 2% will die, shows this virus is different than most.

Most governments are shutting down their economies in an attempt to slow down the virus infection, but most studies indicate that over 70% of us will be exposed and get the infection. Most will show no or mild symptoms.

Clearly an country like Canada could not handle 15% of the population having to go to hospital all at once, so they attempt to suppress the infection curve. This prolongs the infection period and prolongs the time the economy is impacted.

Some countries will likely opt to just let the virus go and burn out. Get everyone infected, some die or suffer chronic impairments but the country gets over it in a few months. This is what all countries currently do with all the other flu viri that float around every year. Millions get the flu each year throughout the world, hundreds of thousands die, but the diseases burn themselves out in time for spring.

Clearly Covid 19 is perceived as different from most of the annual flu and cold viri we contract, and many governments are scared chitless of it because no one has the resources to deal with an infection like this, except the Chinese who can build new hospitals in less than a week. Canada and the states couldn't even get plans drawn up in a week let alone go through all the permitting and Nimby bullshit. The politicians would take a year just to debate it and make sure it doesn't increase global warming.
