I am looking for great companies that can weather the storm and come out stronger than before. And ideally I want those companies to be ethical and environmentally friendly. So no amount of discount will make me by the defense industry. Oil and energy is more palatable, since at least they do some good and perform some needed services. But I still prefer to invest in newer technologies, provided I know that they will not go belly up.

XOM needs to spend it's research dollars on energy sources that don't wind up releasing carbon dioxide in the end. There is no shortage of fossil fuels, just a shortage of clean air.
