One car...a gorgeous 3 cylinder Trabant every 5 or 6 years, but you can choose any of 3 colors. That was only for the more equal. Late 70's I worked with a recent Romanian immigrant. Bought his first car in his 50's in USA. In socialist paradise he only had a small motorcycle. He was an engineer, his wife a doctor. You can imagine how the peasants lived.
