<<<<<What do you think is the best way to handle it?>>>>>

Fascinating question! I would start by looking at history. We have had three 'more recent' events to draw on; Depression, WWII and Housing Crash.

What can we draw on from the three leaders at the time for these stressful events? Hoovers response was a catastrophic which made things worse. Roosevelt and Obamas responses were different. The biggest difference in my mind is how the leader addressed the issue. Hoover clearly completely failed - not because he wasn't a good man but because he played down the Depression (much like trump consistently did). Sorry katelew, that is just fact. When leaders pretend things are just fine when they are not - the public clearly smart enough to see through the inconsistencies - lose faith in leadership. The truth matters. We can handle the truth. It is the unknown when we are consistently lied to that creates panic. So first thing that needs to be done is put another face on this. Republicans can do that - trump can not.

Hoovers response was to do nothing. Obama's and Roosevelts was do get active in finding a fix throwing the whole government behind the fix. I know you didn't like the bailout to car manufacturers etc. - neither did I. The difference between us though is you seem to have such a hatred for Obama you are unable to admit the fix created by Obama worked. I said at the time if Obama was able to fix the economy to keep us out of another Depression he deserved our thanks and support. I stand by that.

I'll go on if you want, but I fear you will not read further.........let me know. After all such a problem does not lend itself to a quick two response.
