A great tool for observing and learning new stuff.
First thing I should tell you, if you're seriously going to engage my sermonizing,
is that I'm an end-of-lifer. I've got cancer, I'm on hospice already and I basically
have no time left as a normal contributor to society. I'm living ONE day at a time...
just sharing observations about what I've learned over the course of my very full
life. I have a different perspective NOW than most people. Each day when I wake
up, I'm surprised I'm still here. I certainly don't carry the normal fears that most
do when they see the ineptitude of our "Stable Genius" at the helm. It's more
like watching a comedy of errors for me.
AND...
The COVID-19 Corona virus has NO personal impact for me... other than the
natural concern for my friends, family and fellow humans that I'm leaving behind.
I have no fear of dying from the virus, I'm already dying - what does it matter
whether it's old age, cancer, or COVID-19? It's going to be soon. The virus
would be quicker with less suffering.
With that said, you can better understand why it's easier for me to look at our current
plight in our human "social evolution experience" from the perspective of the existential
questions presented to every person when we're born as we ponder our "role" in this life.
1) Who am I?
2) What is the meaning or purpose of life?
and...
3) Why am I here? or more specifically... "How shall I live... and why?"
The "why" part of the final question is easy once I've answered the first two questions...
it's because I know who I am, I know my purpose and I've simply CHOSEN to align with
the energies and thoughts that move me along in step with the same goals of the universe...
to grow and evolve... (at least at this stage of its cycle).
I tend to extrapolate the purpose of the universe just from our observations of what it's doing...
It's growing and it's expanding. That's all we really know about it... It's evolving. That's as far as
I go with claiming to know any "absolute truth"... the universe is growing.
I don't really know WHY it's growing... something about an ancient explosion????? I think
that's all still conjecture. There are sciences, religions and philosophies all studying it and
many claim to know the whys and wherefores of evolution but they're actually just guesses,
which they call either scientific theories, or divine proclamations.
So basically, all I'm doing is watching the universe evolve WITHOUT JUDGEMENT as to
why... and then I'm attempting to harmonize with it, e.g., align my path so as to sync
with it instead of fight it or be an obstacle to its growth. Consequently, I spend most of
my time observing evolution just as I would watch atmospheric forces on a global map
to predict the weather conditions for the week ahead. Metaphorically, I'm a pilot or a sailor,
checking the weather so I can make wise decisions for my trip or journey for today... in the NOW.
I've had so much experience at that from my flight teaching days and sailing days that
I've actually been a weatherman for some of my ocean going sailing friends who would
call me on a satellite phone every couple of days for a new three-day forecast... and
advice on how to make the best of it with course changes, safety preparations, etc..
That's my approach to life as well... That's how I make decisions about "how shall I live"
in the NOW to most effectively align with the evolutionary forces that we're experiencing
right NOW. I'm not judging the weather as far as whether it's right or it's wrong... I'm just
observing its growth and movement right NOW and making adjustments to accommodate
what actually EXISTS and what is actually HAPPENING NOW in the world as I sail through
life.
How is this related to government and politics? Government and politics is what the human
race has been using to guide the ship of state for the past several centuries. The Presidency
is the helm. Irrespective of Trump's horrible skills at the helm. The system itself is not working
very well NOW because it can't keep up with the new tools we have available to observe the
state of the sea -- the "weather" in the NOW. The new "ships guidance systems" in the
"information age" need to be able to keep up with the exponential growth of information available
to us in the NOW... its a FLOOD of data. Not only from the (WWW) world wide web but also from
the coming 5G networks for our personal phones and "devices" and the (IOT) Internet of Things.

An example of this would be a surveillance network of cameras and microphones feeding

system or the city's network of street cams on all the traffic lights around town.
Here's something I'm seeing happening in the information age. Many businesses, especially the
ones online, are utilizing the flood of data into the databases to analyze the reality of their markets
(customers) -- e.g., who they are -- where they are -- what their needs and desires are -- how to
reach them -- how to automate services to them -- how to automate deliveries -- etc., etc., etc..
In the capitalist sector, the increased efficiency leads to higher profits. In the non-profit sector
the increased efficiency leads to faster delivery of services to more people. Do you see our
governments doing this? NO. They're too busy blindly steering our ships without current forecasts
on a course that doesn't even make sense anymore... e.g., "the glaciers are melting, we can use
the northwest passage to get tea to Boston harbor from China instead of going around the end of
South America.!"
You can see the "PEOPLE" starting to take over these functions during this current Corona Virus
Pandemic. Here's something that's completely FREE being provided by the private sector. It is
keeping track of ALL the data on the pandemic in REAL TIME as it comes in:

In the past, we'd have relied on government to do this, whether it was WHO or the
U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. They'd have been worthless - they'd
have all this data complied into a report that took them two years to compile and complete
and distribute. I can click on the worldometer and get an instantaneous update of the
number of new cases everywhere around the planet.
This is just one example of how our current system is OBSOLETE. Infrastructures change.
When they do, you don't go back and try to FIX the old ones. You step into the new one as
quickly as possible. When cell phones came into being, third world countries like Guatemala
didn't keep building phone lines on telephone poles to catch up to first world nations. It saved
them millions of dollars and many, many years of work to build out a wireless network for
communications.(It wasn't even built by the government, it was built by the private sector
at no cost to taxpayers).
There are so many more ways to show the absolute obsolescence of our current government
system if you just pay attention. It was set up over 200 years ago based on values that were
relevant to the social governance of a population in the 1700's that moved at the pace of a
work horse.
The Internet of Things is a big source of databases that are creating TOTAL TRANSPARENCY.
Right NOW I'm listening to discussion on television about giving access to cell-phone "location
data" to those tracking compliance with self quarantine directives.
If we begin to use the IOT to monitor all people all the time can you imagine the load it's
going to put on police and courts and jails to deal with all the violations of current laws?
How is the Justice Department going to deal with that? How about all the laws that will
need to be revised and discarded to deal with the new reality of total transparency? How
is our current legislative system going to deal with that?
Have you heard ANY of the candidates for President address any of these realities of our
system of government's state of obsolescence? nope.
I'm not ADVOCATING for total transparency. It's going to be an emotionally difficult change for us
to give up all privacy -- imagine -- NO MORE SECRETS -- not even your most intimate personal
behavioral secrets. I'm just looking at the weather maps like a meteorologist and I can see the
infrastructure for it is already HERE NOW!... and it's evolving at exponential speed.
How that may affect the moral divide between the old and new testament followers, I don't know.
It just seems "natural" that that polarity won't change much... it seems to be the electrical power
generator that moves the evolution of the human species and our social structure. I think we'll
continue to see "pendulum swings" as per usual. The pandemic PLUS the failures of government
systems to keep up with the NOW... PLUS the collapse of the global financial markets are
putting enough FEAR into people in their everyday lives, that it is starting to bring out the "helpers"
in the world and the pendulum is probably going to swing to a more "trusting" benevolence very
soon. But, in my forecaster's role, I don't see it as a permanent swing to a "people united, never
to be divided." We'll still have right vs.wrong -- day vs. night -- yin vs. yang - you know... the normal,
"natural" polarities of a dualistic world.
Sorry to dump all this food for thought on your plate. You don't have to eat any of it and you
don't have to respond. I'm not debating anything with you, you've got a very sharp mind and
a lot of experience in "how the government works". I'm just sharing some of the realities from
what I'm seeing on the weather maps right now. You can make your own moves in nurturing
proper helmsmanship of our "ship of state". If any of this helps you, GREAT. If not, no problem.
It helps me just to look at the maps and try to figure all this stuff out anyway. It's time well spent
for me.
Oh... and not to forget our new kid on the block, Artificial Intelligence... It's the only thing that
can handle this flood of information. It is GOING to be used... it already IS being used. It's
making decisions right NOW in numerous applications for many different reasons. It sure
would be nice to slip that "golden rule" into its final absolute rule for all of it's decision making...
but...
it probably won't happen...
Mother Nature would lose the power that "The Divide"... "The Polarity"... generates to keep
evolution moving forward.
You and I are OLD farts Walt... but "The Universe" is still very young.
