We already can witness the difference, but one needs to also add the authoritarian led society went through it first so had much more to figure out on their own, while the western style democracies all had a very significant heads up (like 6 weeks or more). Here is the result so far, America is the worst of the bunch on day 18 and headed for more of the same. Of the western style democracies, Norway and Sweden seem to be doing the best.

You and most liberals hold up testing in S. Korea as the example the US must follow, but I can't see that the actual numbers support that. The pop. of SK was 51 million in 2017. As of March 19, only 307,000 tests have been done in SK. That computes to only 6 tenths of 1%. There's no way that made an appreciable difference in flattening the curve there.

The public is more compliant there and knows what happened with MERS virus, but society and business wasn't shut down the way it was in China. Something else was going on to slow the rate of new cases.
