Applied Materials Inc. (AMAT) said Monday it is withdrawing its business outlook for the second quarter of fiscal 2020 because the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting its supply chain and manufacturing operations. Governmental shutdown orders in the U.S. and other countries and cuts in airline schedules around the world "are resulting in major disruptions to the supply chain and logistics operations that support our industry," Applied Materials(AMAT) said. "The situation is fluid, and we will provide more information during our next earnings webcast." Shares of Applied Materials(AMAT) fell 0.4% in the extended session after ending the regular session up nearly 6%.
