My 4000 share will also vote against the deal. If DEC only break up the company before making the sale. CPQ only interested in the servers and service business. They do not care about the PC or the Alta-vista business. If DEC spawn off a PC company, the new company is worthed more than MUEI. DEC-PC company has better intel discount for processor and a better brand-name, and also has a connection into the Enterprise. If DEC spawn off ALTA_VISTA that could mean 1-2 B more on top of the PC business. Man, Where did Palmer and the board go to school ?? That school must be a stupid school and should be -de-accredited. I only regret that my vote to kick out the board in the last proxy did not get them out fast enough. On the other hand, I suspected that my vote last time to scrap the poision pill has encourage Palmer to accept this deal to save his butt. Last year when CPQ offer $60 /share for a much weaker DEC company; Palmer can say no to CPQ and still have a job. Today he realized that CPQ can make a successful hostile take over, and at the end they will kick Palmer out. By accepting this lousy deal, Palmer can give himself a chance for a position as the president of the subsidiary and a chance in some other company board of director. I can only hope for some other company such as DELL to get jealous and enter the race. Or that all holder start voting against the deal, which will make CPQ bid much higher for the Share.
