Locogringo, Dr. Birx Confirms WHO Was Wrong With 3.4% Mortality Rate, Will Likely Drop Under 1% I really don't like these articles. They insinuate that the death rate from coronavirus will naturally be around 1% or less, just like seasonal flu. How come Italy, for example, has such a high death rate? They're almost at 10%. I think the reason why America has such a low death rate is because of this. Despite everything you hear from the crazy-ass left, who is convinced that America has the worst health care system in the world, and despite the lack of testing that you hear about over and over and over again, especially from the second-guessers, I think our health care system has done a fantastic job taking care of the more severe cases and reducing the chances of death via complications. In contrast, the health care system in Italy was completely overwhelmed to the point where they had to reject patients over 60. They had to ration their health care. I believe that helped to contribute to a high death rate, because rejecting patients over 60 is a big f'n deal when the population is already elderly to begin with. In short, coronavirus is not something we can simply treat like the seasonal flu. We have to be proactive and somewhat paranoid in dealing with it. Only then will the death rate remain as low as it is. Tenchusatsu
