The significance is the stated increase from $29,000 average day rate in early 97 to projected $60,000 average day rate by the end of this year. Add that to the statements in the GLM conference call about some deepwater rates approaching $200,000 per day and it puts in perspective what is happening in the drilling industry.

We all talk about the Fundamentals, and the Day rates, etc. and then the whole industry tanks when we see a $1 to $2 short term decline in the price of crude. Since most of us are in this industry for the long haul, do you really feel that Day rates are going to tank this year or next?

Now if we could just get the investment community to think rationally about the future we would have this sector moving in a positive direction again!

Does anyone have connections with influential columnists at the Dallas Daily News, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, IBD, etc? Maybe we are attacking this problem from the wrong end of the horse!!!
