Darrell and all, I'm long CPQ; and I've of course known DEC and CPQ about for years. Its time to be a little bit of a devil's advocate with a couple of questions:

1. What synergy can exist between the two companies?
2. How would DEC infrastructure help sell CPQ systems?
3. How would a CPQ reseller or BTO model help sell DEC systems?
4. How would customer service in either of the two organizations complement the other?

Obviously, what I'm looking for is any 1+1=3 in the equation; and I'm having difficulty finding it. Any assistance would be highly appreciated.

Without flogging it, there are some ungood predecessors: AT&T - NCR is one. When I heard about AT&T-NCR, my reaction was - good. AT&T originated UNIX; and NCR has made a strategic commitment with their systems to that platform. We all know what happened.......
