Americans may be buying booze to make their own hand sanitizer, which is otherwise unavailable. . We had reagent grade methanol on hand and I know enough chemistry to easily make our own. For doing art projects we also already had 3M 2097 N99.89% respirators - quite a bit better than N95 medical masks being used in hospitals. . I think we already had Covid but we'll have no way of knowing for several months. It might have been a cold, so we the respirators when we go shopping. A week ago it felt foolish. Now it's normal. One reason people are dying is the size of the infectious dose they're exposed to. Most young people dying are Doctors, nurses and emergency personnel. If you want one of these now, they're unobtainable. All directed to the highest risk medical lab employees.
