If you look at the confirmed cases numbers, you see that clearly they are falling. But if you look at the ratio of confirmed cases to the number of test, you get a very different picture and will realize that we are operating near our technological capacity. The confirmed cases are falling simply b/c we cannot test more than we do. I know it for fact that in NYC the numbers are much much higher than reported. It's just that if you can breath, they tell you to stay home and you never get tested and reported.

When the numbers come down, as they are likely to do next week. The restrictions will be relaxed. We will have thousands, likely tens of thousands, of people around the country who have mild to no symptoms at all. They will start their summer vacation and will spread it out all over the country.

This is kind of like a cockroach problem. If you live a few alive, you will have a re infestation in no time again.
