I think they got lucky in having an early scare due to nursing home fatalities. But there are no heroes here. As an FYI, a lab in WA figure out how to test and track the early coronavirus cases well before it was a national headline, and they got a cease and desist order and were threatened to lose their license...I can't remember the details now if that order was from CDC or from the state. I am also very pissed off at NY (both state and the city) for not shutting down the city early enough. It was as clear as daylight what was going to happen. But they did not want to shut it down and prevent the outbreak if it meant that they could be called ham handed. They chose to wait until it was a disaster so they can justify their actions.
