Oh, you're always very welcome, of course I'm only sharing my own personal take on things here, but in a way we'll all in this together...

I'm very much like you as I imagine most people are, no one likes those roller coaster rides...

But, you don't get those roller coaster rides as often or as severe when you buy with the trend... right now, buying is against the trend, so it's never going to be smooth...

Only those who think they can pick the bottom tick would buy and hold right now...

Being right under those circumstances requires more luck than skill... of course, unless your strategy is to buy only a small portion of a much bigger position and then keep adding as the market moves lower every 5% or 10% or so, that's called canon balling the market, it's not for me... that strategy also works very well, but it requires nerves of steel... it doesn't apply to me... I like smooth easy buys while the up trend has already been established and confirmed... then, it's easy...
