Daniel,

I hope you weren't offended by my post (I'm worried about that) and I'm sure nothing obvious escaped you. Heck, I thought it would be CPQ/ASND, and look where that got me.

I don't know enough about the synergies of CPQ/DEC to comment. But on an unrelated point, does anyone know when, if ever, this networking sector is going to turn? The NWX is down over 30% since its peak in October (I'll post relative performance charts later).

Best to you Daniel,

Gary Korn

OFF TOPIC: As a new CPQ shareholder (1/20/98) I'm in a position to get out unscathed (todays lost profit excluded).......and my sell order is in. I hate the deal. I see CPQ's share price languishing for a long time while analysts and investors debate the merits of the merger. One need look no further than what happened to ASND after the aquisition of Cascade. I may very well re-enter when the dust settles or @ a much lower price, but for now I'm going to put my money to work somewhere else.

Good Luck,

Larry
