"At some point in time, wouldn't you expect the sound
to become integrated into the motherboard? "

Various Intel motherboards have included integrated sound for a few years already. However, typically they use about the same resources, and the quality is generally poorer due to lack of concern for motherboard design that optimizes audio quality.

At some point in time, wouldn't you expect the sound to become integrated into the motherboard? Will the Ensoniq chip enable this?

I upgraded my computer about a week and a half ago, by buying a new motherboard/CPU. The motherboard is an ASUS TX97-X, and guess what's built-in (and what I had to disable?) A Creative Labs ViBRA 16C Series Audio Chipset. I've never heard of this product before; has anyone else? It sure looks like Creative is already in the motherboard integration market.
