I see that there is cautious optimism here on this thread as it concerns Compaqs aquasitions of Tandem and DEC. This "down to earth" orientation that I see someof the posters here have demonstrated is very unusual for me to find on threads that follow a very popular company like Compaq.

As I have stated earlier, I think the recent actions by Compaq can be considered very agressive. Like one poster has previously stated, the recent aquasitions made by Compaq will turn out to be one of the best moves that have been made by this company, or end up as one of the worst mistakes this company has made which can end up jeopardizing the company's future. Time will tell. I personally have seen very few companies that can pull this off. I can count them on one hand. But Compaq's management has demonstrated in the past very good business acumen which may continue to reveal itself in this latest adventure of theirs.
