Quarantines work, it's just that the cost is very large.

In places like Ecuador we'll see what the alternative would have been with dead bodies piling up in the streets.

Even without a vaccine, the 1918 H1N1 pandemic infected only 25% of the population.

Hopefully active transmission just crashes in response to quarantine as prior SARS outbreaks did, rather than reappear repeatedly in many locations over the next 18 months repeatedly as the 1918 pandemic did.

We see China's dictatorship experiencing the unnerving learning experience of progressively ending quarantine measures while continuing to rush additional hundreds of billions of Dollar equivilents into their banking system by reducing reserve requirements.
