As you point out, as has been long expected, they (LU) makes the primary components as well as integrates them into a system. And more importantly, they have AT&T and will likely steal much of CIEN's business going forward, as we will likely see the market continue to expect tomorrow in CIEN's stock price. It'll be interesting to see how LPTHA reacts this week.

The serious "competition" is here now, and Pirelli is likely not far behind.

I'm sure this is the case. In fact, as I understand it, anyone can use polarization over fiber WDM.
