Wanted to short commodity crude ETF Puts in order to go long, but the options of both OIL and USO are broken when I tried, and OIL appears to have stopped trading altogether. These instruments appear dysfunctional at first sign of combat. Dangerous. Yesterday, am not as well equipped to trade on phones etc.. In fact a bit terrified to do so while no signals etc. On Friday evening, while camped in BKK was informed great grandma mama had passed at the young age of 95. Within 2 hours entire clan had mobilized into convoy for 10 hour trek north to outskirts of Chiang Mai,,, a few roadblocks. Spent last three days engaged in various forms of Buddhist Simon Says, avoiding relatives as we scientists are known to do during large gatherings,,, social distancing behind masks, and lack of thai/pretend chinese language skill,,, SI posting, mask wearing, chicken tossing. bonfires, etc... no time for napping,,, although, quite the experience. Awoke Monday morning to find the relatives concerned about full on nationwide lockdown,,, so again mobilized convoy for 10 hour trip back to home base. This time greeted by roadblocks, with police holstering thermometers, etc. Arrived back to BKK refuge yesterday just in time to check things--- but no brainergy to trade with conviction. ETFs: I note JNUG, A 3 X ETF trading similar to DRD,,,, etc. I believe leveraged ETF's are perhaps behind various curves finding physical underlying in short supply etc. I have not yet jumped in on PALL or SPPP yet. Am noting reports that Platinum Physical if can be found is trading at 2X that of spot. this should become interesting near 17th. TSLA: Indeed, I am of same mind, that schizophrenia in TSLA is to be encouraged, captured, prolonged and maintained because just plain short is no fun, not as rewarding etc.... Did do some work on finding other Cliff Divers in energy Sector: OKE,,,, may join Jack in July's if get a chance this week.
