That was a great idea for a commercial, but how about also showing the effects of some normal diskette useage. I've had some 3.5" diskettes that have literally shaken themselves to pieces when reading and saving data. The zip drive is pretty quiet, mainly because the head reading the data doesn't come in contact with the disk.
Also, I have lost many files saved on diskette just by dropping the darn things on a linoleum floor. I've never lost any data from a zip disk by dropping it, mishandling, etc. I was even making a backup of some directories from my computer to the zip drive, when I (accidentally) pushed the thing off the side of my desk. It kept right on copying without interruption. Now that's true quality.

As for these other companies selling high capacity 100MB or so of
3.5" diskettes, I doubt they stay around very long. This type of drive has been tried before and failed miserably. You will find many customers becoming unhappy when their data is non-retrievable. This might happen for many reasons, but the most likely reason for cause of failure is the density issues that come into play onto a diskette. Especially over time.

I'll stick with the Zip drive anytime.

Mark B: Just noticed that no one praised your Zip ad
story line yesterday. Just want you to know I liked it a lot
and would suggest you send KE/IOM a copy of your post. Maybe
they could take-off on this and you could get a nice
royalty. You got my attention with your clever images.
