From an article in Barron's this weekend, page 45.
"Black: Whether they'll be in the next version (Playstation)- Sony hasn't gone on record yet. But it seems likely. LSI really has the best solution. If you look at the other ASIC companies, like VLSI - I have gone out to see them. I wasn't impressed. Their line width is still at 0.5 and 0.6. Their die size is terrible. They don't push the envelope. In pure ASIC, there is really no cmpetition for LSI."

LSI has 0.25 micron line width, going to 0.18. That means more transistors per unit area. The article is fairly bullish on LSI for later this year and into 1999.

The Dallas paper, which had reported that a secret service agent had witnessed The Prez and Monica in The Act, today retracted the story saying that their source was proven to be unreliable. In short, while this story may indeed have legs, we should all be a bit cautious about the swirl (often "swill") of rumors the story has generated.
