Respond to of 218308 Otherwise, you're not wrong... MOST people are good... but the qualifier is necessary. Politics giving access to power... attracts a different element than "most". Most people in the system are also going along to get along, not asking many questions, while assuming they're doing God's work when just doing what they''re told to do "for the good of us all"... which fairly often turns out to be things that have a narrower target in terms of intended benefits. Team affiliations can quickly become group think, of course, if you allow that to happen... And that has been happening a lot, lately, mostly on the left... where many have decided they have no reason to listen to anyone other than themselves any more... as the left splinters into smaller and smaller factions. The media no longer even make a pretense of presenting more than one side of an issue, thereby deliberately imposing ignorance on their audiences. The "D.C. Bubble" being another well known phenomena... is one that isn't about party lines... as much as it is about "club membership" as an insider. "They mean well" gets harder and harder to accept once you get past the lower ranks on the totem pole... beyond it still being true that most of those filling mid to higher level jobs still believe in doing what they're doing... believe they're doing it "for your benefit"... while also being certain they know a lot more than you do about what's good for you... the problem is... you just don't have their depth of knowledge and experience ? Carry it to the extreme of truism... and, of course, even Hitler, Pol Pot, and Stalin... believed they were doing the right thing... Castro just a nice guy being nice to others... sometimes a bit too insistently ? Osama bin Laden... just trying to get us all right with God... his way. The least tolerant people... are those insisting they have to force others to be more like them... more tolerant ? Many in politics are there to serve an agenda they know is not popular... and their goal is to "sneak it past the voters" by lying to them... to do it for their own good... because they're really just too stupid to know whats good for them. If Democrats told people what they really mean with the constant focus on gun control... then you get this:VIDEO Because... listening to yourself applaud yourself... just isn't a practical approach to inducing moderation ?
