I don't know if DSC's IN products are good, bad or ugly but I do know that a lot of the wireless companies I work with are planning to buy an IN system in either 98 or 99. I think they will look pretty hard at a 3rd party system, i.e. not the IN system from their switch vendor, so they can have a true IN system not an integrated with the switch version.

So this area should be a growth area for DSC, and one that they can be a player with in the wireless markets that MOT is not a player in. May even give them some good contacts with GSM ventures and could allow them to sell some Celcore equipment. I think all GSM companies see IN as a way to differentiate their service offering in the future, even though they don't really know just yet what services they can develop with IN except for prepaid (which you can actually do without IN but it eats up switch capacity) and VPN-type services. They all hope to figure out some good services with IN to justify the cost of the hardware, software and training.

Vladimir - You define the sector pretty broadly. Most would not include CS Coms and BAy as direct competitors with DSC - though you may be right that they will become closer competitors in the future as voice and data start to be carried over same infrastructure. The more relevant comparison might be with TLAB, LU, NT. Until recently, these have done pretty well.

1. Most of the companies you list are not competitors of DSC.

2.In addition, weakness over the past 12 months has nothing to do with forward prospects. Continued international penetration and upgrades of communication infrastructure is promising.

3. If UBS said so it must be right.<VBG>

Yes Vladimer...strange conclusion indeed. Care to support your negative conclusions?

Hi VZ,
I think it all depends on the focal length of the lens you are using.
