To anyone interested in the actual truth of all matters, the word baptism doesn't appear in the O.T., only in the new. The word is 910 907 and 908 in the Greek STrong's section, and all has to do with being "whelmed" or fully emersed in water.

If Jesus had to be "whelmed" in water by John, I feel quite confident that it was good for me to be "whelmed". In fact, I have been over-whelmed and baptised twice or thrice, I think.

I also had people lay their hands on me and pray that I receive the Holy Spirit. They did it in faith, I didn't even realize there really lwas a Holy Spirit. I thought they were all a little sweetly nuts, actually, but went along on faith. They all said to speak in tongues, and I just kept saying these pretty things and was wondering about how much fun it was in the car waiting to go back to San Francisco and got zapped by a divine thunderbolt which literally entered at the top of my head and went down my throat and curved and exited through my heart.

What was it like? Well, I don't think I came down for about 10 years.

So I say go on with faith with all of it. Just do it like it says in the Word. You just never know what's out there if you do. Baptism in water is telling the Lord you don't care whether you understand it or not, but you're going to do it if it is going to get you closer to Him. Same with all of it. It's all divine, and all faith, and at every step of the way some halt and say no further, and others go on. Now, reading the accounts of those who go on, down through the ages since the beginning, the Lord apparently makes it very, VERY worthwhile to those people who kept going on. The devil and his people, of course hate it, and try and make the person very, very sorry they went further. But from what I can see, that only seems to have made those that went further even happier, so of course none of it makes any sense whatsoever to the human thinking process. The Path has totally confused and tormented the human unbelieving mind since day one. Even among the brethren there are those that lead us further, and those that stop us, or seem to even try to drive us away from Him. And since we haven't resisted to blood, or even resisted to anything but a mind headache, we probably haven't even gotten started yet.

So, in the end it is just the person and Jesus, period, I believe. The person decides exactly how far they will go, and in the end everyone will be in Heaven if they believe on Jesus Christ. It's just a matter of whether or not you want to hang out with Jesus and John, or hang out with all those who confessed on their death bed and got in by the skin of their teeth.

And if we believe that absolutely everyone is equal, then we haven't read the scriptures very carefully, I think, and that is IMHO only, and of the things of Heaven we can only surmise anyway.
