[Reply to Rainier] In a sense, we're both in a similar place - trying to apply what we've learned while seing our shortfalls and taking steps to address those. You're reading, I'm pursuing objective predictors that can be screened thru info tech methods.

Those stocks (SBEI, LARS, SOCR, and AXC) were from a larger list of potential January Gems/stocks with potential that had endured a lot of tax loss selling, a few of which are doing OK (such as VICL & ISIP). I collected a lot of individual indicators, and after a few months will go back & see if there was a pattern to which issues did best according to which indicator.

One dynamic we need to keep in mind is not only TA & FA, but macro trends. Possibly due to the asiam flu & an nervous investor setiment,
super small caps are a bad place to be in general (SBEI, LARS, SOCR, and AXC).

Has anybody identified a fairly consistant objective predictor for "January Gems?" other than good news released in January? Would be very interested in any findings in this regard. Nuf 4 now, Scott

[ Thoughts ] Rainier,

Amer Exp ?????? PROO ????? Oh, Gawd !! Just make Friends there so you can pick their Brains. :-))

Equitable?

Captivity is a most important consideration. That little Clause may cost DEARLY.

Wanna be Caged?

I think the Equitable is still Non-Captive.

I have a friend who used to work there.

[ ... SFN ... ] ??

Rainier: take a look at this site:

pei-intl.com

I think you'll find it pretty interesting. Too much to look at in one sitting though, and some of it requires subscription. I heard Marty Armstrong this weekend on the radio (you may even have heard of him being an econ-dude). Impressive record of world economic predictions. Interesting stuff.
