All, here is the official written response to my Email. I asked Level 3 Investor Relations Department how to invest in the company. Julie Stangl had this reply: Jim - The current situation regarding the stock is a bit confusing.ÿÿ The company is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Peter Kiewit Sons Inc. (PKS) PKS currently has two classes of stock - a Class C which links to the operations of the Construction Group, and a Class D which links to the operations of Level 3 (formerly Kiewit Diversified Group.)ÿ The Class C has a restriction on transfer and so is owned 100% held by employees, etc. The Class D does not have a restriction on transfer and in late November,1997, some former employees sold some shares to a few brokerage firms who made a market out of the stock - they created a ticker symbol (KIWT) and started trading it on the Pink Sheets.ÿ It is currently trading on the Nasdaq' OTC Bulletin Board.ÿÿ This public trading is highly speculative, based on very thin trading and little information.ÿ The company does not currently advocate / promote this trading. Once the ruling from the IRS is received, Level 3 will go forward as an independent company. Tapping the public markets is likely at some time in the future, although the timing is not at all certain at this point.
