Paradyne Announces High-Speed Hotwire MVL Residential and Small Business

January 27, 1998 -- Paradyne unveiled its newest product -- the Hotwire
MVL (Multiple Virtual Line) System, a non-standard QAM service that
Paradyne is pitching for $299 per line. This new product transforms
regular copper wire telephone lines and in-home wiring into a unified
high-speed digital network with the simplicity and cost of a dial modem.

Out In New Strategy; RADSL Announcement Imminent ÿ Major News

January 27, 1998 -- U S WEST surprised analysts at Paradyne's Hotwire
MVL announcement at COMNET '98 in Washington with a strong statement
that it would deploy Paradyne's new splitterless copper solution
throughout its territory. Mike Roulea, Vice President of Marketing for U
S WEST said, "We will put [Paradyne Hotwire] MVL into service as soon as
it is available. It will be a key part of our strategy for consumers."
Roulea went on to say that the technology is well enough established to
be in U S WEST's network within 90 days.
